This is the special edition (extended) - now includes festival activities at the end of the story.
One morning, when Michael follows a path he doesn't recognize, he meets a dragon—completely unprepared. He carries no sword or shield—just an acorn, a teacup, and an invisible friend name Merriwig.

Through cleverness, kindness, and a few unexpected gifts, Michael begins to understand that courage doesn't always look the way stories say it should. Sometimes it is friendly. Sometimes it tells a joke. And sometimes it shows up, even when your knees are shaking.

This is a warm tale about meeting fear with bravery and imagination. Told with simple humor this read-aloud tale is perfect for Michaelmas—or any moment a child is growing in their own courage.
A story where clever thought is the sword—and never used with force.

As midwinter nears and the days grow shorter, the land falls asleep beneath snow and stars.

Beginning with the Four Lights of Advent, each candle kindled awakens a seasonal gesture. From this spiral of light—the path unfolds into the Twelve Days of Christmas, where ancient archetypes and seasonal guides return to whisper and weave their stories into our hearts once again.

Inside this book, you will meet the Winter Hare who watches the Sun, the Yule Goat who guards ancestral memory, the Nordic Tomte who tends sleeping beast, and join the Winter Table where no soul is forgotten.

This is a book for the time between times. Rooted in folklore and tradition, this book kindles wonder, warmth, and wisdom.

These stories honor the child’s imagination and the adults longing for a deeper connection to this season. They hold the mirth of old songs and guide us from darkness toward the promise of light.

Reviews

"This story encourages children to hold a positive view of themselves. Rather than presenting fear as something to be avoided, it invites them to meet it as a challenge to be faced by choosing to use clever thought—instead of fierce force which often rushes in without true understanding."

Read & Play with Puppet Tales

I am delighted to present my new puppet tales book series—where I share a wealth of insight into the hidden world of puppetry—much of which, to my knowledge, has not been published before (unless you read publications from the 1800s). Puppetry is nearly a lost art. Thanks to Waldorf traditions, it still exists!

These new stories put special emphasis on Steiner’s principles and reveal how puppetry is more than just storytelling, but a living art that connects the heart of the storyteller with the soul to the child. I invite you to explore these new works and re-discover puppetry again with me!

"The detailed explanation of each character's inner quality, will help the teacher or parent to imbue their own puppets with these traits by using suitable gestures and voice cadences."

As the new season awakes, a little sprite embarks on a quest to restore the land to life, with guidance from characters such as: Mrs Thaw, Flora, Lady Spring, flower fairies and a crystal may pole.

Once upon a time, the days were frosty and the land was dull and grey. King Winter had visited the land. He had painted the skies grey and wrapped the earth in a blanket of white snow. And the colors of the land had faded away. King Winter's work was done. And with a nod, he departed the land.

And there sat Jack Frost by himself and said, "I must admit I've had some fun, I've chilled the earth and cooled the sun." And off he went to play somewhere else, leaving the land without it's color...
Performed by parents, these stories guide children through the seasons.
Nature Table Narratives is a reflective puppet tale series—offering tales for each corner of the year. Unlike script based plays, these stories are wholly spoken by the storyteller. A single narrator's voice weaves the scene—inviting the child to watch and dream while the puppets move in gentle motions reflecting the gesture of each season.
Enjoy this as a virtual puppet show.
